Hello all!,

It’s been a while since I’ve taken some time to sit down and give an update. Gwyn and I have been in New Jersey for 4 months, and we just re-upped our contracts so we can be near family a little longer.

I’ll say it has been incredibly nice getting to hang out with her family, and building those relationships while being stationed here. We managed to celebrate New Year’s together, which is apparently always a big meal in the Philippines, celebrate her mother and sister’s birthdays, and now we’re well into spring with all of the new growth for this year.

It was a little harder to explore before spring rolled around the corner due to the cold and darker days, as well as us both being incredibly busy at work, but now the sun is shining and we have the weekends around friends we’re able to enjoy the outdoors.

A week or so ago, Gwyn got a call from one of our van life friends saying he would be driving through the state and wanted to catch up if we were available. It happened to be a day neither of us had to work, so we met up at an outdoor market and walked around with friends before returning to the house for a cookout with Dillon. We got to hang out all day from roaming around the vendors, eating lunch from a food truck, and finished the evening with grilled chicken and a plethora of other picnic food to round out the day.

We only get to see him on occasion, typically around once a year, but it’s always a nice time. Gwyn and Dillon met in Virginia about 3 years ago and they hiked the short trail at Natural Bridge together, then all three of us met up in St Petersburg Florida in spring of 2024 for bagels and a stroll around the city. This year we got show a little extra hospitality with the house being so close, with a home made cooked meal, and a hot shower to boot.

It’s nice meeting up with him periodically, and we talk about our adventures throughout the year keeping up with where we are and letting the pups spend a little time together. He has a dog named Mimi that keeps him company throughout his travels, while we have Rose and Holly exploring with us.
