My first few experiences with Van Life were weekend trips around Virginia to make sure a nomadic life might work out for me. I’ve always been one to travel as far and wide as I was able, as well as experience new things, but always had a home base to come home to.
Gwyn had been doing travel nursing for over a year when we became friends, and she had her own routine situated when we started hanging out. Thankfully with her experience, she was able to work out a few hiccups before I joined.

I had been working for the same company for about 8 years, and had briefly considered travel work. I was worried I would miss home too much, and I wasn’t sure how to carry along my two yorkies Rose and Holly.
After a couple camping trips, we brought the pups along and they did phenomenal. I honestly believe as long as they are getting attention, they’d be happy to go anywhere. To make the trips more enjoyable for the girls, Gwyn bought them a backpack so we could carry the girls everywhere, and a few months later she purchased a stroller for them.

Once I realized that Rose and Holly were comfortable and content, we started prepping for something more permanent.
I’ve been traveling full time for four months, and after some changes to our routines the moving around has been fun. We’ve traveled from Canada to Florida with stops to see family and friends in between, as well as started working our way to the Midwest. We’ll see where the next contract takes us, but as of now, we’ve seen some new sites, met lots of people, and have gotten to explore a few places I know I wouldn’t have seen hadn’t come along for the ride.
Over and out,
Whit
